2009 was a very tough year for me and my family. For a start--
Myself
Ever since relocate back to Singapore my career took a nose dive and have to report to someone whom know 'nut' abt project
Relationship with -
wife I fair 7/10
Daughter--1.5/10
Son--7/10

I really need to improve on my relationship with Daughter BUT at loss how to do it..we now don't talk ever since we had a 'big big' fight on Dec 21..I just do not know how to hold my temp and it get worse when she start to curse and swear at me....it just make me loss my mind....
I am really hurt and can never be given a chance to be a good father...ever since we left her in Singapore 2007. I constantly blame myself for the error in this matter.
I seek counsellor for consultation but is useless...I still lost it, now only hope is praying to Buddha

Relocation was a good experience BUT a big mistake for my family.

Recently I was offered to go HK with good package BUT for sure daughter will not be interested so I turn down no doubt I really want the job. I so afraid of the error that I caused earlier.

But on a plus sign--I bond well wit Jayne and relationship get stronger now we have better understanding.

With Vodka-- I was really upset after finding out thru 2nd vet that we learnt he is blind on right eye.
This really hurt me as I never feel so much for my pet.
So will just take 1 day at time and see how he goes--treatment now is daily eye drop for now.

Also this year I pick up bird keeping in May which really keep me busy and without this new hobby I think would have gone mad and 100% into deep depression.
looking back at 2009 how I wish could turn back the clock and start all over again but this is only in the dream....

Clarence's report card / Jayne & Janelle cruise

Jayne told me to review his report card...clearly he just take it easy overall that what his teacher assesment on him BUT his result is above average so what they want ?
Ask the aprent to push their kids?

Anyway talk to him but his silent always make me angry...I just dont know how to communicate or make him understand what the teacher is saying.

I did what I can and hopfully he get it.

Next few day father and son will spend more time as Janelle and Jayne going on a cruise --I am so happy that they did..
Good for mother and daughter relationship.

Hope Jayne can explained more to Janelle what is out there in the world other than playing computer game in year 2009.

Cross my finger for the best and I am sure they will enjoy their cruise.

REd X-siskin and Gold Siskin

Well guess what--nothing change when having hobby like birds.
I always aim or try to lay hand on the best songster and that when I discovered 'Siskin'.!

The singing are just too wondeful and good to give it a pass.
So finally got a red Siskin on Nov 22th 09.

Wow! the singing is just out of this world...I hang anywhere in the house it will just blast away with song. Of cos Black throat need to go and I realize BT is a female...wasted $250 just like that..

Anyway Eric just didnt get enough so received a call on Nov 24 to be at Goodwill for his selection of another 'few' siskin.
True to his and our passion- we all decided on more siskin.
I end up with 1 gold siskin but only able to change for it with my other x-siskin on Nov 25 09.

Another wow factor for the gold siskin which sing non stop.

While in BK - Jayne text me saying the singing just too loud and sounded like she in the jungle...that funny.

No regret getting this pair and now I have 3 birds including the Green finch.

Janelle

Janelle seem to be happier and a little mature these days and I really hope and pray hard that she get back on her feet first by stop playing computer game till dawn.
anyway I hope she register the school she want to attend and not waste time.

1st Finch sold

Sold the 1st finch with heavy heart as it sing so well and tame.
BUT have to move on as that the only bird people would buy and true enough it was sold on Nov 7th the moment I launch on ADpost.

Clarence

We didnt pay atention to when Clarence was suppose to be back and received a shock when he called me on friday Noc 6 that he was back ...was a bit sick but manage to ask for help to have someone fetch him from the airport.

anyway he came back with so many bites on his body and as usual lost torch light/swim top....

BUT he enjoy the trip which was important and we were also happy that he did...
it is just that he need to take care of himself.....

Siskin

After sending Clarence to budget Terminal for his school field trip, me/Yong and Jayne drive to Serangoon Goodwill to look at bird as usaul for me.

Saw a Siskin singing at the cage, keep staring for ahilw took it down and look at it but not intereted.

After having Lunch with Sam/kiong brought the his dog down and was walking toward the car park saw a siskin with chest in red and love the bird .
Went back to Goodwill and bought it after they told me how to bring the red outt on the bird,

Now end up with 4 birds BUT have to sell 1 at least cannot manage 4 birds.

So now hoping can sell the first green finch.

Tuesday October 27, 2009
Vodka right eye has slight cloudy, so went to a vet near home but she could not really treat it and just diagnose as dry eye so after medication for 2 weeks no much improvement.

So decided yesterday evening went to seek second opinion from MP-Dr Heng and received a rude shock that his right eye is blind-could be due to infections or Trauma in his eye as it only affect 1 eye.

Me and jayne was dumbfound and for a moment was angry and upset....
as we didn't realize that it is so serious -Vodka show no sign of discomfort or pain etc....eat/poo normal...

After taking the bad news, went home feeling very depressed and lost as how to help him..... despite Dr heng lay down for us what to do in next 2 weeks to bring down the pressure on his eye.. and hopefully it will otherwise ....

Dr Heng said that Vodka is very strong as he tolerate the pain in his eye as his condition would be unbearable....hearing this break our heart as for past weeks he show no sign of pain.....everything seem normal.

How I wish Vodka could talk and tell us his problem earlier so that we could seek immediate medical attention for him.

This morning before going to work he look at me in a cute way and immediately it just break my heart......I am crying inside never have I feel so much for pet-I now realize vodka is not a dog but a truely family member

He is only 4.5 years old........

I am writing this to shared that we should never take thing for granted and need to pay more attention to our furkid or pet or our loved one even though they may seem normal to you ......

Clarence

Made a spare spectacle for Clarence “ just in case “ for his upcoming trip to Thailand.

Cost me $800 buck for the trip and 240 for glasses , anyway money is secondary important he get to learn something –I hope.

So receive sms from the shop that the glasses is ready, pull Clarence together with vodka (see vet) and once reach the shop pass him the receipt for his glasses …and know what Clarence said to me?....Why cannot hold for me?


This make me explode like bomb…a simple pc of paper he need his father to carry for him. I felt so sad what has become of my son….I strongly reminded him that I lost my father at the age of 13 and I have to do everything myself !!! becos one day I will have to leave him and he better learn to be independent !!.
BUT those words really hurt ....... I really hope he grow up to be a independent otherwise I will blame myself for his up bringing.

Anyway I hope he enjoy his coming trip...

Happy to hear from Jayne that she taking Janelle on a cruise BUT soon to discover Janelle misplace her passport.
Of course not happy as she refuse help from her mother to help find it..
After back from work dont why I snap maybe the trip may not happen becos I really want both mother and daughter to have a great time on the cruise.
Thanks Jayne this time for asking me to hold back which I did...and I realise need to let Jayne manage the situation.
I really really wish both of they go on holiday -  I hope to see so that better relationship for jayne and Janelle.
Anyway I realise later no need to find the passport as Janelle passport due to expire Nov 2010 same as mine/jayne, so from now onward it left abt a year BUT technically it should be 6 month as all travel need to have more than 6 month validity.
I left it as it is--per Jayne request. BUT i still hope both of them can work out the above.

PaintBall

Yesterday together with clarence/his friend and my kaki (total 13) went down to TAG and had a great time .However come back with 7 shots on the body --pain like anything else......

But overall had a good time....

Janelle

Jayne tell me that Janelle want to have dinner on last friday --no doubt I was sick but happy to have a dinner and the timing was right as clarence was at his friend house.

This allow me and Jayne to spend the short time with her....
We are so happy it may mean nothing to Janelle BUT it sure mean alot to me and Jayne.

We will always love her.

Bro William & Family

Yesterday at Bro william house to see the YE, seem doing ok......we have a mini "chai' bird in kitchen.

Was in the living room looking at his family picture --seeing Evelyn and Leroy graduated from NUS, I am very very sure Bro william is very proud of his 2 children.
As he/sister anna and myself did not even get 'O' level certifcate during our era...
I am so proud of them....Am sure their standard of living will improve soon...
Bro william as usual never seem bother abt the house where the ceiling concrete is spalling.

Anyway wish them well.

This the BT that I have it replace with the earlier one--so let wait and see how this fellow performance.

This the new green finch, look at how terrible it condition ..took pity and also it sing well in the cage so bring it back today.

Black throat / Green Singer

Today determine to get rid of the non sing Black throat,
head down to goodswill and fortunatetly the twin brother change for me.
Plus saw a singing Green in community cage...so bought at $40...


Send Vodka for grooming and after that took him to see the vet because of eye infection eye...hopefully he recover soon.

Jayne tell me Janelle doing part-time Job....one side of me--am happy she doing something...but on other side guess we have no other choice than to let her do what she like.


How I wish she stop playing game till morning as this is not a great start to a day--especially everyday doing this.


Me and jayne-- every weekend without fail will go to 4-face buddha and ask for blessing on her. We pray and pray ---hope for the best.


I have change in many way how I communicate to Janelle..at time it is so stressful for me BUT I have to do it so that the family will have harmony.
I will try and try till my last day hopefully she get back on her feet and be successful --All I hope to see Janelle stand up and held her head high in life again to pursue what she really want and commit herself to do it...that what successful meant to me....

This Bird hobby bug is bitting me again.

I think becos of my curosity character which end up to find out how all these species behave and sing in their tune...

Really this bird bug is bitting into me.............
Bought another mauritus yellow eye early July - good singer but one of mid toe amputered as I did not notice becos was enjoying it singing so bought it.....no worry so long it sing....and sure it did.
so agressive some more

August 1st 2009-
than itchy back side ---...go to goodwill and saw a grey finch sitting in cage there quietly and sing...best is it very tame and was surprised....and Guess what I bought it.

Jayne not very happy..but I guess so long I still take care of vodka and clean up any mess.
She should be fine..after all I just love animals.

Have this green singer since May 09, as I always love colorful bird… just shared what his diet and regime.

His Diet –
1 cup contain Finch seeds mixture and add with canary song food – change daily any left over will be throw away.
1 cup contain dry egg food mix with wheat germ-change daily.
1 cup leave it for mixture of egg yoke, this is a treat cup
1 cup contain grit – this is controversy but I leave it there becos he know whether he need it….sometime I see he don’t even touch it.

Egg-
once a weekA good grind up of hard boiled 10min egg yoke with shell (any left over will removed from the cage after four hours.)Sometime mix it with some chopped vegetables or fruits.

Vegetables –
At least 4 times a weekBroccoli and other brightly green colored veggies.

Fruits-
Twice a weekApple, papaya, mangoes, bananas, only 'green' grape –he love grape

Morning-
Give vegetable
Evening-
Give egg mixture or fruit.This is the time finch's natural foraging time.

Cuttle fish bone-
Always hang inside the cage.

Water-
Change dailyAdd vitamin twice a week. this the 2 type of vitamin I used-
















Bath-
Try my best to do it daily ..if I miss the day will compensate by twice on weekend-Sat/Sunday in the morning and late afternoon.Unfortunately he only know how to dip his head in water so have to spray him all the time with Bird shampoo.

Walk-
Only Sat evening and Sunday morning at ‘Chai’ area BUT do not hang together with others - a distance away as my finch is not meant to be a ‘competition bird’ but a pet to me.

Flight cage-
He goes into the cage for an hour and do it 2-3 times a month, as I find a little challenge getting him back into his cage later on…

House keeping-
Use ‘anti-bacteria wipe’ to clean the cage include perch/ring stand during changing the paper lining daily.
















Use "4 Paws" mite & lice to Disinfectant on the bird/cage by spraying.

Most important is the perch (once a week use tooth brush to scrub and sun it or use wipe.)

This may seem like a lot of work to some but in reality it is not.

Also my intention of keeping bird is as pet and enjoy his singing/playing with him.

I believe pet that are kept healthy whether it is bird/dog/fish or any animal it will naturally
show it’s potential of it well being by providing u or your family with many hours of joy with their presence-as for my finch hours of beautiful singing.

Grey Finch

Was intend to sell the Bird cage - But end up selling the Grey Finch yesterday.....
So this morning together with POLO/YC went to Goodwill and saw a yellow eye finch, fall in love....Can resist it so I bought it. Is a young bird good body posture.
Will post the picture shortly.

GRAY FINCH (White-rumped Seedeater)

May 17th - this morning went to bird shop to get vitamin for my green singing finch, after getting the stuff casually ask the staff any good gray finch available.

He very excited point me to 1 and claimed it sing and told me to forget black throat finch as they have not started to sing---mmm after hearing it is only 50 buck...
Why not??

3 weeks ago gray finch cost 350 now 50!! I know why so cheap can also see cages after cages of gray finch....

I left shop and brought it back home by 5pm, let it rest for awhile.

Was resting on my bed and that when I heard it first singing--wow it was clear 'sweet' song..

I realize this birdie could be a winner if I groom it well..will see.

Will post picture later on--here the picture and after 3 weeks with me it singing is great but star glazing .....

My other half

21 years of marriage..phew !!! still going strong---No joke how time has fly.

both of us has attained the level of understanding that at time our quarrel has become a normal conversation pc that we forgot we even quarrel.

Now I know why my mother so deeply in love with my dad and how much she misses him when he passed away.......

KIDS

Nowaday kids is really hard for parent to understand ---they want freedom and do nothing at home but play COMPUTER games.

how can that be possible---becos if that happened Singapore next generation will never grow and Singapore will fall behind in no time that my tots.
so the question is it passing phase of growing up??
